There is great value in considering the culture of people and what  influences their  behaviour. When communicating about new technologies such as GMOs, it helps to look beyond the reluctancy to adopt new crop varieties and appreciate that the communities we are working with are not stupid. They are making complex decisions that are influenced by cultures that we may not understand e.g women who refuse to adopt new banana high yielding varieties because the extra income will drive their husbands to marry another wife! Before putting out more information, we need to understand the real reason behind certain behaviours, because there is always a reason.
