Tumaini Makole

A community I was working with in Kondoa was struggling with eye infections. It was important to help them to not only understand the disease and how it is transmitted but to also ensure they had the access to clean water and healthcare to enable them to act on preventing spread. It is not that the people do not know what to do or don’t want to do anything. It is that they are not able to do anything because of a lack of facilities and support. If you only have a small amount of clean water each day, will you save it for drinking and cooking for your family or use it to wash your face? It is a choice they have to make in a situation that is beyond their control.
