Professor of Resource and Environmental Economics; Head of Department – Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness Management

Farmers are facing severe consequences of Earth’s warming, including heat exhaustion, declining crop yields, and flooding, which could lead to their internal displacement even in their homelands. They also face deforestation, pollution, waste disposal and biodiversity loss, which affect their livelihoods. The use of coping mechanisms can significantly enhance their resilience, but some mechanisms are costly, inefficient and unsustainable. Therefore, effective communication of risks and coping mechanisms is crucial for mitigating environmental risks and promoting sustainable adaptation.

My job is to communicate environmental risks and sustainable coping mechanisms to the farming communities through workshop and community outreaches to help them safeguard and sustain their livelihoods.
