Program Manager – Grandmother Project

We recognize grandmothers as a cultural resource that can help catalyze norm change at the community level. Indeed, given their status, they are trusted by the entire community and people, especially women and girls, look to them for guidance. In addition to community facilitation work based on respect for local elders and cultural values, we provide training and support to grandmother leaders so that they can help their members understand and engage with the risks and consequences of important social issues such as forced and child marriage, teen pregnancy, and FGM. This intergenerational culture change approach has empowered local communities to organize to make their own decisions through dialogue but also to fight misinformation.
