One of the challenges we face is of a generational and cultural setup of a traditional birth attendant. These women are inexperienced in general medicine, and they have little knowledge of surgical hygiene. They are, therefore, unable to support a woman through healthy labour due to lack of appropriate medical tools. They are aware of the risks associated with their ways but cannot act on mitigating it due to the circumstances they are dealing with.
