It’s not so much about the lack of understanding if things are explained to people in their own languages or at their own level of understanding. I have not found a major problem if you sit with people and take your time to simplify issues. What I find very difficult is the fact that sometimes people hold beliefs that are so intractable and in place that they can listen to you and understand but feel that the situation doesn’t really apply to them. They believe that it’s different for them somehow. Now that’s a very difficult thing when trying to help people with the notion of risk.
